The Association of International Development
Agencies (AIDA) is a membership body and coordination forum of international
non-governmental and non-profit organizations
(INGOs)
that share a common interest in promoting
appropriate development and humanitarian programs in Palestine. Currently AIDA

Communications
Coordinator
AIDA is seeking a full-time Communications
Coordinator to facilitate communication, information sharing, coordination,
representation and action among or between various actors to allow for more
effective and efficient delivery of humanitarian assistance and recovery and
development programming in Palestine.
Expected Results
-Fulfil the
communications, coordination and information sharing objectives of the AIDA
Strategy.
-Facilitate effective
communication and coordination within and between the AIDA Executive Committee
and AIDA members; and with local NGO forums and non-AIDA members.
-Facilitate effective
and consistent communication and engagement with the local authorities, UN,
donors, diplomatic missions and other stakeholders.
-Facilitate Executive
Committee activities to help the Committee become a more effective and efficient
body, and in order to enable the Executive
Committee to focus on achieving AIDA’s strategic objectives.
Main Activities
1-Information
Sharing
-Lead process of
information sharing among AIDA members.
-Disseminate
information pertaining to anything of relevance (reports, meetings, events,
etc.) related to the work of AIDA members within Palestine.
-Develop a calendar
of upcoming events which can be shared among AIDA members.
-Increase
communication and coordination between member INGOs.
-Improve flow of
information between AIDA members, UNDSS and GANSO on security-related
issues.
2-Data Collection and
Management
-Collect and manage
data on behalf of AIDA members.
-Assist the Chair and
Executive Committee with various
functions related to gathering information and conducting research on topics
relevant to members and AIDA strategy.
-Assist in collecting
data from members and establishing, coordinating and streamlining structured
monitoring and reporting mechanisms.
3-External
Coordination
-Represent AIDA at
meetings with external actors, when required.
-Prepare info and
promote awareness AIDA’s function in Palestine, especially as external focal
point of the international NGO community.
-Ensure more
effective and consistent communication and engagement with the UN, the local
authorities, donors, embassies and other stakeholders.
-Develop strong links
and clear ways of working between AIDA and local NGOs.
-Increase
communication and coordination between INGOs and NGO forums and working
groups.
4-Organizational
Development
-Create and maintain
AIDA resource center.
-Develop and improve
required administrative, recruitment and other processes within AIDA.
-Help build capacity
of members; reaching out to explain new functions of AIDA.
-Prepare induction
package and share with new staff working for AIDA members.
-Develop and improve
AIDA website.
Required Skills and
Qualifications
Required
-University degree in
Social Sciences, Administration or
related field
-Relevant work
experience in coordination of activities
-Excellent written
and spoken English and Arabic
-Ability to
understand and strategically use information
-Ability to produce
high-quality documents, materials and other communications in
English
-Computer literacy in
using Microsoft Office and email/internet
-Ability to work
under pressure and meet tight deadlines
-Ability to work
independently and network with various stakeholders
Desired
-Prior experience
working with a national or international NGO
-Background including
knowledge of developments and trends in Palestine
-Advocacy
experience
-Experience using
Microsoft Publisher
-Written and spoken
Hebrew
The successful application will directly
report to the Chairperson of the AIDA Executive Committee but will be hosted and
contracted by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC). All employees of NRC must
adhere to NRC’s Code of Conduct and the four organisational values: dedicated,

Commencement:May 2013
Contract period:12 months (with 3 month
probation period)

Salary/benefits:According to NRC’s general
directions pay commessurate with experience
and benefits provided.
