Business Development
Center (BDC) Manager
The YWCA of Palestine is
now launching a new three-year program, the Entrepreneurship Development
Initiative (EDI), aiming at fostering youth economic empowerment by supporting
and developing entrepreneurship in Palestine, with special focus on young
women.
Through the establishment of a Business Development Center (BDC), the YWCA is committed to provide financial and non-financial services to small and medium-scale business owned and managed by young and/ or marginalized Palestinian men and women. In the first phase of the EDI, the YWCA will focus on two geographic areas (the Jordan Valley and Ramallah area) to provide start-ups and already-existing businesses with non-financial services (trainings, counseling, networking, etc.), according to each business’ specific needs.
The YWCA of Palestine is now seeking to hire a qualified and motivated person who will manage and oversee the BusinessDevelopment Center.
Duration: 1 year (with the possibility of extension)
Job Location: West Bank (Ramallah/Jericho)
Start Date: June 2013
The main responsibilities of the BDC Manager will be:
-Establish and manage the Business Development Center (BDC), including hiring of the BDC staff.
-Map and assess the needs of target groups and key stakeholders (local authorities, government, NGOs working in related fields, etc.) in the areas of intervention.
-Define and implement a strategy to provide accessible and fair financial services to businesses, as a YWCA’s standalone program or in partnership with commercial banks, microfinance institutions, private sector etc.
-Identify potential funding opportunities, partnerships and costrecovery mechanisms to ensure the long term sustainability of the BDC.
-Ensure the timely delivery of narrative and financial reports, according to donors’ standards and requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
-Minimum Bachelor degree in business management (or any other related field);
-Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in business management, as well as team supervision and guidance.
-Knowledge and experience in feasibility studies, as well as business and marketing planning.
-Excellent communication skills, in both Arabic and English.
-Computer literate (Microsoft Office).
-Ability to set high-level goals and work in a team.
-Commitment to work towards the promotion of gender equality and other YWCA’s core values.
