Rehabilitation (BASR) is a non-profit, non-government organization that is
nationally recognized for the comprehensive specialized inclusive
health,
rehabilitation and
development programs and services rendered to the Palestinian population,
particularly persons with disabilities, through its varied centre based,

BASR is currently seeking to fill the following position:
Position Title: Community Development Officer Location: Bethlehem
Accountable To: Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Program Manager.
Job Summary:
-Designs, implements and facilitates capacity building and empowerment activities, training, awareness raising on various aspects of the rights of persons with disability targeting persons with disability, their families and respective organizations as well as relevant stakeholders.
-Contributes towards developing community understanding of and advocacy for the rights and needs of persons with disabilities, addressing and challenging barriers to their inclusion and full participation in society.
-Designs and provides staff development and training for all community programs’ staff.
-Organizes community awareness and advocacy activities / campaigns as well as training programs in disability related fields.
-Supports DPOs to devise advocacy strategies in the local and national context to influence policy change.
-Develops workable systems for regularly communicating and disseminating information to persons with disability, their families, DPOs, advocacy and related sectors.
-Writes reports and prepares key documents and resource materials in relation to awareness raising, capacity building and advocacy programs.
-Assists in developing advocacy and lobbying initiatives with key stakeholders towards enforcing the disability related laws.
Professional Qualifications:
-English language proficiency (reading, writing and speaking) is highly required.
-At least 2 years professional experience in community and /or disability work.
-Significant knowledge of project cycle management approach.
-Proven knowledge and experience in writing reports and documents in English.
-Ability to work with groups and individuals at every level of society.
-Ability to work in rural and remote areas in Bethlehem and Hebron districts.
-Ability to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently and structure own work independently.
-Skills in facilitation, coaching, training and mentoring implementation.
-Ability to work under pressure in a conscientious and organized manner.
-Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible.
-Strong interpersonal and team working skills.
-Skill in creative thinking and analytical problem solving.
-Skill in document composition.
-Skill in word processing and basic programs such as Excel, PowerPoint and web browsing.
-Resident of Bethlehem or Hebron.
Education:
Degree in community development, disability studies, communications, social sciences or related discipline.
