From Grove to Market –Making the olive market work for
subsistence and small-scale farmers in the occupied Palestinian territories
Within the framework of the project entitled
“From Grove to Market” which is sponsored by the OXFAM GB, and implemented by
Bethlehem University’s Fair Trade Development Center (FTDC) of the Institute
for Community Partnership, Applied Research Institute Jerusalem (ARIJ), The
Economic and Social Development Center of Palestine (ESDC), Business Women
Forum (BWF) and Oxfam GB that aims at enabling small and medium scale farmers
from vulnerable and poor households in the West Bank to have fair and equitable
access to commercial markets within a conducive institutional and policy
environment, resulting in increased food and income security and greater
resilience to, and ability to respond to, shocks and disasters. The project
seeks to assist national olive oil representative bodies to promote the
interests of the Palestinian olive oil sector stakeholders and to help advocate
for a supportive, gender equitable legal environment.
The project is seeking to hire the services of a Community Mobilizor to work
with Palestinian olive oil cooperatives and non formal olive farmers’ groups.
Responsibilities:
The Community Mobilizor shall perform the following duties:
-Take active part in supporting the project management;
-Serve as liaison between the project management and the policy advocacy
officer on one hand and the partner cooperatives on the other;
-Take the responsibility for coordinating and organizing different activities
as requested by the project management;
-Explains different activities and interventions to the farmers and explains
the reasons behind them;
-Conveys his/her observations from the field to the management to help in
developing plans and activities;
-Serves as liaison between the project management and other olive oil
representative bodies and stakeholders;
Minimum Requirements:
-Bachelor degree in media, social sciences or any related field;
-Three years experience in advocacy and lobbying;
-Capable of working under pressure;
-Ability to travel in the different parts of the country;
-Good knowledge of the Palestinian olive sector;
-Valid driving license;
