The
Palestinian water authority (PWA) invites experienced & qualified
Palestinians to apply for the following position in the Gaza project coordination unit (gpcu) which will
be responsible for the implementation coordination of the rolling program of
interventions for additional water supply for the Gaza strip planned under the comparative study of
water supply options for Gaza (cso-g).
the g-pcu is funded by the Austrian development agency
Objectives of
the assignment
the project
environment and public health specialist will be responsible for planning,
implementation & assist in monitoring of the environmental and public
health management, in accordance with the relevant requirements of state of
.Palestine and the Austrian development agency
Duties and
responsibilities
• prepare and
regularly update action plan for water quality and wastewater and reuse
components of cso-g implementation and to be coordinated with water supply
components.
• draft
documents needed for fund raising, and assist in the implementation of the fund
raising plans coordinate and oversee rolling program respective components
implementation among different implementing agencies.
• work with
the monitoring expert to develop cso-g related components of the monitoring
program, and be responsible to implement, update and update the monitoring
system; produce monthly and quarterly cso-g progress reports.
• stimulate
cso-g respective components coordination, cooperation and communication with
and among pa organizations, donors and national stakeholders.
• assess
relevance and in case of deviation provide justification for the proposed
studies.
• draft terms
of reference, cost estimates, tender dossiers, contracts, and implementation
plans for the relevant studies proposed in the g-pcu project document and
possible new studies.
• manage,
supervise and monitor the implementation of the studies carried out by
contracted consultants.
• as and when
requested by PWA, assist to monitor the performance of the consultants during
planning and design of wastewater and reuse schemes
• provide
technical assistance to improve the capabilities of PWA managers and
staff with
regards to their policy and monitoring tasks and responsibilities;
Qualifications
qualifications
would be the following:
• a graduate
degree in environment and public health
• 7 years
proven experience in water environmental issues like in water quality aspects
and in wastewater projects planning
• experience
in management is preferred;
• knowledge
in water sector regulations is preferred
• excellent
interpersonal and communications skills; and
• fluency in
English.
Duration
• the
contract will be for an initial period of one year, extendable to
three years
till the end of the project.
• the
commencement of the assignment is expected to start on august 2013.
