on 1 January 2011, it brings together under one roof the long-standing expertise
of the Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst (DED) gGmbH (German development service),
the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH (German
technical cooperation) and InWEnt – Capacity Building International, Germany. As
a federally owned enterprise, we support the German Government in achieving its
objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable
development. We are also engaged in international education work around the
globe.
GIZ Office Al Bireh“ is looking for a full-time (40 working hours per week) Portfolio Officer for the Portfolio and Policy Management Unit (PMU).
In your function as Portfolio Officer you will work closely together with and support the Portfolio Manager.
Responsibilities and tasks are such as:
-Supporting external and internal communications
-PR handouts, GIZ Country Brochure and programme factsheets, GIZ Palestine website, various PR materials, PowerPoint presentations etc.
-Editing, proof-reading and/or writing articles for GIZ internal news (intranet, staff magazine, etc.)
-Preparation and continuous update of informative documents for new GIZ staff members
-Establishment and constant update of a GIZ Palestine Communication Concept
-Responsibility for GIZ Corporate Design guidelines and their implementation
-Supporting Quality Management
-Supporting Policy Management
-Gathering and sharing of informing about current policies (national and international e.g. general International Cooperation discussions, climate, gender, EU, cooperation with the private sector, Paris Declaration, etc.)
-Prepare and support the implementation of trainings and workshops related to policies (i.e. Capacity WORKS, gender, intercultural trainings, etc.)
-Follow-up of GIZ Annual Planning
-Event and Workshop Management
-Prepare and implement thematic workshops for GIZ staff members
-Support the organisation of yearly events (GIZ Annual Planning, Annual Staff Meetings, social gatherings)
-Prepare relevant documents and schedules for visitors and delegations (GIZ, BMZ, German politicians and others)
-Assistance in meetings of Country Director and Heads of Programmes
-Preparation of briefings, documentation, etc.
Required qualifications:
-University degree in the fields of Communications, Media, Social Sciences or a similar field;
-First professional experience in working with international organisations in the field of development cooperation;
-Fluency in English and a very good command of German (oral and written), knowledge in Arabic
would be an asset;
-Ability to work effectively in a team as well as own your own;
-Skills in M&E;
-Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills, organisational and time management skills, and reliability;
-Proficient IT skills (Microsoft Office and Outlook).
Assignment: expected starting date March 2013.
