UN Women plays an innovative and catalytic role in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) since its
inception in 1997. UN Women oPt focuses its activities on one overarching goal, namely to support the implementation at the national level of existing international commitments to advance gender equality in line with the national priorities. In support of this goal and thoroughly taking into consideration the specificities of the oPt context, UN Women concentrates its efforts and interventions toward the realisation of following strategic goals: Engendering governance, peace and security; Supporting women's economic security and rights; and Promoting women’s rights and protection against violence.
UN Women is currently looking for a Consultant to provide Programme Support who will provide assistance in the follow up of Economic Security and Rights as well as Political Participation and Leadership programmes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the UN Women Special Representative and in close cooperation with Programme Associate of Economic Security and Rights as well as staff of Political Participation and Leadership programmes. The Programme Support Consultant will undertake the following tasks, duties and
Responsibilities:
-Support in the management of recruitment process of consultants and new projects’ staff;
-Communicating with partners and consolidating narrative reports of the projects under Economic
Security and Political Participation programmes;
-Support in preparing Project Management audits for partners;
-Follow up activities of direct implementation with consultants and partners, among other;
-Assisting in the organization and reporting of workshops and events related to Economic Security
and Political Participation programmes;
-Organizing and attending project field visits and meetings;
-Support in issuing and following up projects’ payments;
-Provide other administrative and logistical support and back up to the projects and programmes;
-Assisting in organizing donors’ events and fundraising materials and documents;
-Drafting Political Participation and Leadership programme document;
-Drafting concept notes and proposals in Political Participation as needed;
-Perform other duties as required.
Time frame:
The assignment is expected to start in February 2013 and to be finalized by 31 May 2013.
Key deliverables
1-A detailed work plan of the consultancy assignment;
2-Financial and narrative report of the Saudi donors’ meeting in Amman;
3-Draft of 2 donor reports of Economic Security and Rights projects;
4-Draft of Political Participation and Leadership programme document.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
University Degree in Cooperation for Development, Political Sciences, Economics, Gender Studies or related fields.
Experience:
The Programme Support Consultant should have the following qualifications:
-A minimum of 3 years of experience in programme support;
-Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English;
-Experience in the oPt and/or the region;
-Experience with the UN is an asset;
-Excellent computer skills;
-Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Language Requirements:
Fluency (both oral and written) in English is essential.
