Advocacy Capacity Building Officer - BASED IN JERUSALEM
One year Fixed – term contract (Renewable)
National Position (SUBJECT TO FUNDING)
In line with Oxfam's global and national advocacy and media strategy for the occupied Palestinian territory (OPT) and Israel, you will develop and administrate a 27 month advocacy capacity building project which aims to develop the capacity of civil society in the OPT to build relationships with relevant authorities, advocate for policy changes and improved services, and you will provide training and accompaniment to newly trained advocacy and policy staff in identified Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). You will also assist/advise partner organizations and Oxfam in developing their capacity on lobbying, advocacy, communications, and campaigning.
Skills and Competencies:
-Completed University degree in political science, journalism, human rights, or development, advanced degree is an advantage
-3 years proven work experience in advocacy, communications, or a related field with solid skills and competencies in administration and organization.
-Experience in working with local communities and community driven campaigning
-Experience in capacity building of civil society organizations on advocacy and policy through various methods – training, coaching etc.
-Previous experience or familiarity in working on donor visibility and communication is an advantage.
-Relevant working experience on key issues in the Israeli-Palestinian context would be an asset.
-Knowledge of international law and human rights issues would be an asset.
-Excellent communication skills (writing and speaking) in English
-Arabic language skills highly desirable.
-Demonstrated knowledge in new and social media platforms
-Strong interpersonal and coordination skills, ability to work in a team
-Results-oriented and strong analytical skills
-Experience in representing organizations and lobbying officials at a high level on sensitive topics.
-Good understanding of gender mainstreaming in lobby, advocacy and media work
-Drive to achieve result
