Save the Children is seeking qualified candidates to fulfill the position of project assistant/ site engineer for its Gaza Office.
Type of contract: one year , where holder of the post will be working under Save the Children regulations.
Duration of contract: (12 months) Till March 31st 2013.
Availability to work: Immediately Key Elements of the Role
The post holder will provide technical support for the successful implementation of the health project in Gaza, follow up of the activities in the field, coordinate all needed support from SCI and provide all necessary reports and updates concerning the project and its implementation activities, contribute to the documentation of the project activities and events.
She/he will contribute to ensuring successful, quality and timely accomplishment of program activities in compliance with SCI policies and regulations She reports to the health project manager.
Main Responsibility:
-Assist in provision of technical support and assistance to project partners.
-Assess and identify all of the construction and rehabilitation needed for targeted homes , health clinics and kindergartens .
-Daily follow up with site engineers of Contractor and/or subcontractor to ensure that work is being carried out as per design drawings, specifications & meeting planned dates in schedule.
-Assist in Prepare the bidding documents bill of quantities
-Daily reporting about progress delay in work to the Engineering Unite and Project Manager
- Conducting regular job site inspections and other forms.
-Approved all construction materials supplied to site.
-Actively monitor the work environment
-Identify and highlight possible risk on project
- Assist in necessary project documentation.
-Coordination for verification of extra claims raised by the contractor
-Implement technical and safety requirements for the project
-Assists the SC team in any other tasks and duties required, requested
Requirements-Bachelor in civil engineering,
-At least two year of experience in projects.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlines.
-Ability to contribute to a small, proactive team, motivating staff and working collaboratively with colleagues and providing support and advice as necessary.
-A full appreciation of the value of co-operation, both internationally and within a team environment.
-Written and verbal fluency in English and Arabic required.
